Green Knights Selected to Win Women’s Basketball Crown

GRINNELL, Iowa – St. Norbert College has been picked to win its 13th Midwest Conference title in the Women’s Basketball Preseason Coaches’ Poll. 

The Green Knights earned a league-high seven first place votes and totaled 97 points to top the poll. Cornell College, who shared the league championship with St. Norbert last season, came in second with four first place votes and 93 points overall. 

Carroll University is expected to get back to the four-team MWC Tournament for a fifth straight season, as the Pioneers checked in at third with 73 points.  Illinois College finished just one point behind Carroll in the poll and are aiming to get back to the league tournament for the first time since 2011. 

First year Monmouth College head coach Katie Marcella and the Fighting Scots have been slotted to finish fifth in 2015 after earning 70 points.  There is a sizable gap between fifth and sixth with Lake Forest College finishing with 51 points. 

Ripon College has been selected to finish seventh with 49 points, and Beloit College is picked to finish eighth (43).  Grinnell College and Knox College tied for ninth in the poll with 23 points each, and Lawrence University completes the poll with 11 points.
