De Pere Natives Named Performers of the Week

GRINNELL, Iowa – De Pere, Wis. natives Randy Hill of St. Norbert College and Carroll University’s Kieran DeGroot have been honored as the Midwest Conference Performers of the Week for men’s indoor track and field. 

Weekly Notes

DeGroot finished second in the mile to lead the Pioneers to a fourth place finish at the Windy City Rumble hosted by the University of Chicago. DeGroot recorded a time of 4:22.63, which ranks him as the top miler in the Midwest Conference.

Hill won the triple jump with a distance of 44’6” and was third in the long jump with a leap of 21’9” at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational.  The senior is currently tops in the conference in both events.

Notable Track Performances
Hill’s teammate Jack Feuerstein won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.76 seconds on Friday.  Feuerstein set a personal record by over two tenths of a second and is ranked second in the Midwest Conference.

Ian Hall helped Ripon College finish fourth out of six teams at Friday's meet, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a lifetime-best time of 23:07, which currently ranks seventh in the MWC. Hall also ran the lead off leg of Ripon's third-place 4x400-meter relay team that ran a time of 3:28.30, which is fourth-fastest in the MWC.

Cornell College’s Josh Lindsay ran a Midwest Conference-leading time of 15:57.32 in the 5,000-meter run at Saturday's Grinnell College Invitational. He was the top NCAA Division III finisher and placed sixth overall out of 17 competitors.

Notable Field Performances
Cornell's Charles Zilaitis beat 22 competitors to claim the shot put title at Saturday's Grinnell Invitational. He posted a winning shot put mark of 47' 8 1/2". Zilaitis also took fifth in the weight throw with a distance of 49'11.75", which ranks third in the Midwest Conference. 

Ripon's Zach Beek placed third in the shot put with a season-best throw of 51'3 1/2", which is the top distance in the MWC this year and ranks 21st in Division III.
