GRINNELL, Iowa – Hannah McGinnis has been named the Midwest Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive season and St. Norbert College head coach Connie Tilley earned Coach of the Year honors for the second straight year and seventh time in her career as the league announced its all-conference teams on Monday.

McGinnis, a senior forward, had another remarkable season for the Lady Blues.  She averaged 20.2 points per game and 14.3 rebounds per game, which were both tops in the conference and led to 17 double-doubles.  McGinnis becomes the first player since Carroll University’s Crystal Hoewisch in 2007-2008 to win back-to-back Player of the Year awards and just the fifth in conference history.

Tilley has the Green Knights back in the NCAA Tournament after St. Norbert swept both the Midwest Conference regular season and tournament titles.  St. Norbert enters the big dance on a nine-game winning streak and have won 16 of its past 17.  The Green Knights’ Jill Kleiman was named First Team All-MWC, while Heidi Van Sistine and Brianna Byrne earned Second Team honors.  Kleiman led St. Norbert and was tops in the league in steals (79), and was third in the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio 1.8:1.  The sophomore also averaged 9.4 points per game and passed out 78 assists.

Joining McGinnis and Kleiman on the First Team is the Cornell College duo of Rikki Mulloy and Taylor Dicus.  Dicus averaged 17 points per game and pulled down an average of 10.9 rebounds per game.  The senior posted even bigger numbers in conference play, averaging 17.8 and 11.3.  Mulloy became Cornell’s all-time leading scorer this season and led the MWC in three-pointers made (67) and averaged 15.2 points per game.

Grinnell College’s Alissa Hirsh led the Pioneers to a much improved season this winter and was rewarded with a spot on the First Team.  Hirsh led Grinnell in points per game (18.5), assists (94) and steals (57).  She also pulled down 122 rebounds, which was good for second on the team.  Beloit College’s Lana Wieseman, the league’s leading scorer at 20.3 ppg, also was named to the First Team.  Wieseman led the Buccaneers in rebounds (198), blocks (40) and was second on the team in steals (21).

The Carroll pair of Breann Maryanski and Malory Christenson were named Second Team All-MWC after leading the Pioneers to a second place finish in the conference and a MWC Tournament berth.  Lake Forest College’s Michelle Ricolcol and Monmouth College’s Paige Nord were also Second Team selections.
