GRINNELL, Iowa – Knox College outfielder Drake Sykes has been named the Midwest Conference (MWC) Player of the Week, while Grinnell College’s Graham Fisher was named the league’s Pitcher of the Week.

Weekly Notes

Sykes banged out 14 hits in 24 at-bats (.583 AVG) on the week with a double, two triples, six RBI, and nine runs scored. He also had six walks (.677 OBP) and three stolen bases. He also added two outfield assists.

In his second victory of the season, Fisher pitched six and one-third scoreless innings against MWC foe St. Norbert College in non-conference action.  The senior yielded just two hits and struck out nine to earn the victory.

Notable Performances
Bryce Rooney was a nearly impossible out this past week for Illinois College in games against Robert Morris University-Springfield and Carroll University. The freshman went 3-for-5 at the plate, but also drew three walks, ending with an OBP of .750 for the week. He added a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage at second base.

D.J. Davis started two of Illinois College's wins this week, compiling a 1.50 ERA with a 1-0 record and not going 2-0 only because he left IC's midweek contest with RMU-Springfield early with the Blueboys well ahead. Against Carroll on Saturday, the senior threw a complete game five-hitter, striking out six and not giving up a run until there were two outs in the 9th inning of a 6-1 win for Illinois College.
