GRINNELL, Iowa – The Midwest Conference men’s soccer coaches have picked St. Norbert College to win its second straight conference title in the annual MWC Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
The Green Knights earned the maximum number of first-place votes (9) and totaled 81 points in the poll. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own teams. Lake Forest College, the 2015 MWC Tournament Champions, earned the other first-place vote and finished second in the poll with 73 points. Knox College finished third with 64 points, while Grinnell College is expected to earn a spot in the MWC Tournament as they finished fourth (58).
Monmouth College totaled 43 points to finish fifth and narrowly edged out Illinois College after the Blueboys garnered 42. Lawrence University is expected to finish seventh (32), followed by Beloit College (28), Ripon College (17) and Cornell College (12).
Eight of the conference’s 10 programs open non-conference play on September 1.
