Vidushi Sinha Sets Championship Record for Leading Grinnell

ROCKFORD, Ill.  – Vidushi Sinha of Grinnell College shot a Midwest Conference (MWC) Women’s Golf Championship record 72 to put the Pioneers up by 22 strokes after the first 18 holes of the 2017 Midwest Conference Women’s Golf Championship at Aldeen Golf Club. 

Results

The Pioneers totaled a 326 as a team on Friday, which ranks third in conference history and only three strokes back of the all-time record that Grinnell shot in round two of last year’s event.  Grinnell was led by Vidushi Sinha who fired a championship-best 72.  Vrishali Sinha is in second overall after shooting a 78. 

Grinnell leads second-place St. Norbert College by 22 strokes after the first day of competition.  Zjennai Vang led the Green Knight contingent with an 82.  Monmouth College sits six strokes behind the Green Knights and was led by Haley Hoekstra’s 79. 

Lake Forest College totaled a 358, which was good for fourth on Friday, while Illinois College totaled a 369 to round out the field.  Knox College also had two competitors who put together solid rounds.  Samantha Nichols shot an 83, while Shelby Keen finished with an 86.

The second round of the championship tournament begins tomorrow at 10:00 a.m.
