St. Norbert College Sports Information

DE PERE, Wis. – The St. Norbert College softball team will participate in a four-team NCAA Division III Softball Tournament regional held Friday-Sunday, May 12-14 at UW-La Crosse.  Green Knight head coach JoAnn Krueger was honored as the Midwest Conference’s (MWC) Coach of the Year on Monday after leading St. Norbert to their first NCAA appearance since 2012.

The MWC-champion Green Knights (21-14) will face the host Eagles (28-14), an at-large qualifier from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference at 3:30 p.m. Friday at North Campus Field. UW-Oshkosh (30-11) and Benedictine University (33-11) are the other two teams in the regional and play at 1 p.m. Friday.

Game times will be announced when they are made available. The tournament is a double-elimination format.

Krueger led St. Norbert to a 15-3 mark in the MWC this season and the Green Knights went 3-0 in the conference tournament to secure the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.  She coached Emma Molenhouse and Amanda Diedrich to First Team All-MWC honors in their freshman seasons.  The freshman duo was joined on the First Team by sophomore Tia Danforth, while junior Leigh Grall earned Second Team honors.  It is the sixth time Krueger has been honored by the conference.  The previous five were when the league was split into North and South Divisions.

It was quite the turnaround this spring for St. Norbert.  Last season, the Green Knights were just 6-30 overall and were ninth in the conference with a 5-15 record.

St. Norbert is making its fifth NCAA Division III Tournament appearance, also advancing to the regional round in 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2012. The Green Knights are 4-8 all-time in the tournament.
