GRINNELL, Iowa – The reigning Midwest Conference (MWC) South Division Position Player of the Year, Walker Breard of Cornell College, has been named to the Second Team of D3baseball.com’s Preseason All-America Team.
In addition to earning Player of the Year honors from the MWC last season, Breard was named All-Central Region by D3baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
Last season, Breard hit .388 in the regular season with 12 doubles, seven homers and 37 RBI. In conference action, he led the MWC with a .750 slugging percentage and ranked second in on-base percentage at .543. He tied for the conference lead with nine doubles and was second in homers at five.
The senior is a three-time All-MWC South Division selection and the second Ram to ever earn the conference position player of the year award. Entering his final season, he already owns the Cornell career mark for home runs (28) and needs just one RBI to break the school record (125). He also ranks 10
th in school history in batting average (.368), third in slugging percentage (.685), fifth in on-base percentage (.464), eighth in runs scored (94), fourth in doubles (35), second in total bases (270), and second in walks (62).
