ROCKFORD, Ill. – The rain held off for day one of the 2018 Midwest Conference (MWC) Women’s Golf Championship at Aldeen Golf Club. Grinnell College leads the field by 23 strokes as the Pioneers shot an 18-hole score of 330 thanks to a trio of golfers at the top of the leaderboard.
 
Vidushi Sinha currently sits in first place after a first round score of 74, six strokes ahead of sister Vrishali’s 80. First-year Nina Kouchi completes the Pioneer threesome as she is tied with Knox College’s Shelby Keen for third after both shot an 81. Keen’s teammate, Samantha Nichols, is also in the top ten after day one as she shot a score of 86 for seventh place.
 
Lake Forest College will enter day two in second place after an opening round score of 353, while Monmouth College’s total of 365 has the Scots in third place. The Foresters matched the Pioneers in golfers placing in the top ten with three as Faith Jung is fifth after shooting an 84, one stroke lower than teammate Amanda Lee’s 85 in sixth place. Cece Cruz rounds out the Forester golfers in the top ten as her round of 88 is tied for eighth with Scots’ golfers Dani Freeman and Haley Hoekstra.
 
Madi Peyton joined the above trio in shooting an 88 as she led Illinois College to a team score of 371 after 18-holes. St. Norbert College rounds out the field with a total of 379 led by Amy Holzer and Elizabeth Bobinski who are tied for 12th (92) and 14th (94) respectively.
 
Round two of the MWC Championship begins tomorrow at 10 a.m. Below find the individual top 10 and the full team results through 18 holes.
