Tang became just the second Grinnell women’s tennis player in history to win the singles title at the prestigious ITA Fall Regional Championships over the weekend. After receiving a bye in the round of 128, the sixth seed fired off three wins over the next two days to advance to Sunday’s quarterfinals. Tang opened Sunday with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 victory over third-seeded Kelsey Dorr of St. Catherine’s University, and followed that up with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Autumn Bruno of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater to move to the final. Tang was awarded the title over Mary Frances Hose of Carleton College via default. Grinnell’s only other ITA singles title came from Laura Krull in 2012.
