There was history made in the women's sprints at last week's Phil Esten Meet at UW-LaCrosse as Emma Spalding eclipsed the 100m dash school record set by Briana Bartz back in 2019, running 12.30 seconds (3.9 m/s), which is the fastest wind-legal time in the MWC this season. In addition to the 100m, Spalding also set a new personal-best in the 200m with a time of 25.54 seconds, which ranks second in school history and second in the MWC, while also running a leg on the 4x100 relay, which now ranks second in school history. Spalding, Jenna Erickson, Payton Rahn and Kara Block finished sixth with a time of 49.16 seconds, which is the fastest time in the MWC this season.
