Colson was nothing short of amazing while leading the host school to its 11th Grinnell Invitational title in a row. All five of the event victories in which he was involved were meet records, including individual wins in the 100-yard freestyle (46.43), 100 backstroke (49.85), 200 backstroke (1:49.28, which ranks 20th in NCAA Division III). He was also a member of the 200 medley relay (1:32.16, 28th in D-III) and 400 medley relay (3:26.74). The 200 medley relay time was a school record, the 100 backstroke ranks second, 200 backstroke is third and 100 freestyle and 400 medley relay are each fourth. Colson placed second in his other three events – 200 freestyle (1:44.28), 200 freestyle relay (1:25.44) and 400 freestyle relay (3:07.92).
