VanWestrienen competed in the Cornell Winter Classic and placed first in both the Mile run and the 3,000m. His mile clocked 4:17.44 which ranks #8 in Division III and leads the MWC. His 3,000m time also leads the conference at 8:56.11. He also ran the anchor leg in the 2nd place 4x400m relay (3:44.46).
