VanWestrienen broke Cornell's 8K school record with an impressive run at the John McNichols Invitational hosted by Indiana State University. The junior clocked a quick time of 24:19, placing third out of 463 competitors in a competitive meet comprised of athletes from all college divisions. VanWestrienen beat all 82 Division I finishers in the meet. Cornell finished 12th in the team race, behind 10 nationally-ranked Division III teams.
