Fitzgerald was a quadruple champion as Grinnell rolled over Coe College 191-57 on Friday. He displayed his versatility by posting individual victories in the 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 0.04 seconds), 100-yard freestyle (47.50), and 100 backstroke (54.40) while also swimming a leg on the victorious 200 medley relay team that finished in 1:32.32. Fitzgerald’s time in the 100 freestyle is first in the MWC and ranks 19th in program history, while his IM time is second in the league.
