Cortes shattered her own school record in the mile on Saturday at Ripon's Dick Hendricks Invite. The junior's new time of 5:02.70 was nearly six seconds faster than her previous record set last year. She took first in the event against 15 other runners, including two from Division I, and is now top-40 nationally in the event.
