Brandon Coats went 2-0 for the Scots this week with wins over Illinois College and Beloit as Monmouth went 3-1 to move into the top 2 in the standings. Coats started at home against IC on Wednesday and threw five innings with one earned run allowed and three strikeouts as the Scots won 6-3. On Sunday, he came on in relief in a time game with the bases loaded and two outs in the seventh and got a huge strikeout to end the inning. He picked up the win as Monmouth scored four in the 7^th and Coats struck out two more in the 8^th to finish with 3 strikeouts in 1? innings. For the week he struck out 6 in 6? innings, allowed 2 ER and picked up wins against two of the top four teams in the MWC standings.
