Dempsey batted .421 and slugged .842 as Lake Forest went 5-0-1 last week and took over sole possession of first place in the Conference standings. Among the junior third baseman’s nine base hits were two doubles and three triples, including two in one game, and she also drew three walks and stole four bases in as many attempts. Dempsey scored nine runs, including at least one in all six contests, and drove in five on the week. Her double started the Foresters’ three-run rally in the seventh inning of Sunday’s 8-7 game two victory at Lawrence.
