Lawrence University junior Akio Yamamoto has been named the Midwest Conference (MWC) Men’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week after he won an individual event and sparked a winning relay team in a dual meet with Austin College. 

Yamamoto took first in the 50-yard butterfly in 25.53 seconds, and he teamed with Anton Hutchinson, Travis Charlow and Tom Goldberg to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:35.88. Yamamoto also swam to third in the 50-yard freestyle in 23.90 seconds and was part of the 200-yard medley relay team that placed second in 1:46.19.  Austin beat the Vikings, 77-52.
