Starkey, a junior relief pitcher from Morton, Ill., nearly set the Monmouth season saves record in the course of a week. Starkey recorded four saves in the course of six days and is just one save shy of the Scots' season record. Starkey surrendered just one run, which was unearned, in his role as Monmouth's closer. He picked up a save vs. Dominican, saved both games of a doubleheader against Lebanon Valley and notched the save vs. Bridgewater State. At the plate, Starkey hit .375 with five runs scored for the week.
