Cornell College junior Octavia Martinez has been named the Midwest Conference Women’s Outdoor Field Performer of the Week. Martinez turned in a lifetime-best effort of 137 feet, 11 inches in the discus at Grand View's Viking Classic. The mark ranks No. 29 nationally and No. 1 in the MWC by more than 11 feet. Martinez placed fourth out of 26 throwers.
