Wright set the tone for the game as he accounted for 47 yards on Monmouth’s 70-yard opening drive, concluding with his 2-yard touchdown run to give the Scots the early 7-0 lead over 13th-ranked Wartburg. The senior running back added a 32-yard scoring run in the third quarter to pull Monmouth within a point at 15-14. Wright gained 165 yards on 38 carries, including a crucial four-yard gain for a first down in the final minute to ice the game and give the Scots the 24-18 upset victory.
