Carter-Buckman posted convincing victories in both backstroke events at the Carthage Classic over the weekend, taking the 100 by more than two-and-a-half seconds with a time of 52.70 and prevailing in the 200 by more than three-and-a half seconds in 1:58.60. Both times lead the MWC this season, as does the 2:01.26 he recorded in the 200-IM. Carter-Buckman also led off four relays, including the 200-free that owns the league’s best time at 1:27.11 and the 400-free that won the meet in 3:12.61. His 50-free and 100-free leadoff splits in those races rank him among the top three in conference in both events. Lake Forest finished second out of eight teams at the meet.
