Valero Ying had an unmatched performance in leading the Pioneers to their ninth consecutive Grinnell invitational title over the weekend. Valero Ying was a six-time champion, including meet-record performances in the 200-yard breaststroke and 400 individual medley in times of 2:06.87 and 4:10.34, respectively. Valero Ying also won the 100 breaststroke in 59.09 and 200 individual medley with a time of 1:56.74, and guided the 200 and 400 medley relay teams to victory in 1:38.20 and 3:36.18. All four of his individual winning times rank first in the MWC, as does the performance in the 200-medley relay. Valero Ying is now third in Grinnell program history in the 200 breaststroke, fourth in both individual medleys and sixth in the 100 breaststroke.
