Saturday’s Red Hawk Open was highlighted by freshman Dameco Walker’s record-breaking day. He eclipsed Ripon’s 24-year-old Long Jump record by leaping out to 22-11.25, passing the mark set by Bill Schultz ‘97 of 22-09, set in 1996. Walker initially broke the record on his first jump of the competition getting out to 22-10.5 before hitting the 22-11.25 jump on his last attempt in the finals. That distance ranks him first in the MWC and 18th in NCAA DIII. Also the MWC’s leader in the Triple Jump, Walker recorded his second best jump of the season in that event going out to 11-09, in addition to running the opening leg of the winning 4x200m relay.
