Ty Sabin '17 is one of the greatest scorers in the history of NCAA Division-III basketball. The only three-time Men's Basketball Player of the Year in Midwest Conference history, Sabin was also a three-time All-American, earning First Team honors during his senior season. He finished his career with a school record 2,559 points, which is nearly 700 more than the second-highest total and places him second on the MWC's all-time scoring list. His career scoring average of 26.1 points per game was the highest of any active player in the NCAA, across all three divisions, during his storied career.

A four-time All-Conference player, Sabin started all 98 games during his Red Hawks career. He was named Central Region Rookie of the Year after a freshman campaign that saw him lead the team and finish third in the MWC with 19.6 points per game. The culmination of his career came in 2017 when he led the entire country in scoring with 30.7 ppg, while leading Ripon to an MWC Tournament Championship and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 15 years. He scored 798 points that season, which is a school record and ranks second in MWC history. That also marked the third time Sabin had scored more than 500 points in a season, making him the first player in program history to accomplish that feat.

Sabin holds the school record for career 3-pointers (283), while ranking fifth in program history for 3-point percentage (.465), second in free throw percentage (.859), and eighth in assists (248). He scored 50 or more points three times during his career, which marks the top three single game scoring outputs in Ripon's record book.

Sabin was named Central Region Player of the Year at the conclusion of his senior season. He generated some national buzz throughout his career for himself, and Ripon College. As a junior, Sabin was featured in Sports Illustrated's 'Faces In The Crowd' after his first 50-point game, finishing with 51 and a school record 11 three-pointers against Cornell, including the decisive 3-pointer at the buzzer. He continued to torment Cornell as a senior, dropping 50 on them in the 2017 MWC Tournament semifinals, including another game-winning 3-pointer in the final seconds. In the MWC Championship Game the following day, Sabin scored 31 in a nine-point victory that sent the Ripon to the NCAA Tournament, which was highlighted on ESPN's Sportscenter later that night.

Sabin ended his career with a 43-point game in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament against seventh-ranked WashU. A few weeks later, he was selected to play in the Division-III All-Star game at the D-III Final Four.

Sabin has used his experience and skills that he honed at Ripon to continue his basketball career professionally overseas, playing in Europe for the last four years. Originally playing on a team in Denmark, Sabin has also played in Spain and Sweden, where he led the league in scoring last year with 22.2 points per game. Selected to D3hoops.com's All-Decade Team, Sabin signed with a team in Iceland in September of 2020. In his first game with his new team last month, Sabin scored 47 points.
