GRINNELL, Iowa – Carroll University will join the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) as a full member beginning with the 2016-17 academic year as announced by Carroll President Doug Hastad last week.
Carroll returns to the CCIW after a 22-year absence, having been a member of the conference from 1955 to 1992. Since then, Carroll has been a member of the Midwest Conference (MWC) where it won 31 team championships.
"Carroll's history with the CCIW and its geographic proximity to several member institutions makes the move a logical one," commented MWC Executive Director Heather Benning. "I hope that the school's final two years in the Midwest Conference are marked by the traditional rivalries it has built and the positive student-athlete experiences for which our league is known."
“Speaking for the ten continuing members of the MWC, we will miss the spirited competition and the fine sportsmanship of the student-athletes from Carroll University,” said MWC Chair and Monmouth College President Mauri Ditzler.
