MWC Announces 2021 Football All-Conference & Individual Awards

GRINNELL, Iowa – Today, the Midwest Conference (MWC) announced the All-Conference and individual award recipients for the 2021 football season. 
 
This year’s 70-member team is led by Offensive Line MVP Anthony DerManulian of Lake Forest College, Offensive Skill MVP Nicholas D’Ambrose from the University of Chicago, Defensive Line MVP Korbyn Personett of Monmouth College, Defensive Skill MVP Dante Esposito of Lake Forest College, and Newcomer of the Year Tre Stewart of Lake Forest College.
 
DerManulian was a large part of the success of the Forester offense that rushed for 30 touchdowns and 1,666 yards this season.
 
D’Ambrose led the league in rushing with 1,557 yards on 208 attempts, while also scoring a league-best 18 touchdowns. His final overall tally for the season set a school-record 1,712 yards rushing for UChicago, good for second in Division III.
 
Personett led the league and all of Division III in sacks and tackles for loss with 15 and 25, respectively.
 
Esposito led the league in interceptions with 7 on the year, accounting for 121 yards and 1 touchdown.
 
Stewart passed for 1,586 yards and 18 touchdowns this season. He also completed 112 passes on 177 attempts for a 63.3 pass completion percentage.
 
Lake Forest College head coach, Jim Catanzaro was voted Coach of the Year by his peers. The Foresters went undefeated in regular season play, winning their first MWC championship since 2012. Lake Forest captured the league’s automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Football Playoffs and will compete in the opening round this Saturday.

Recognized as the student-athlete with the highest cumulative gpa on the championship football team, Vincent Wallace of Lake Forest is the recipient of the 2021 MWC Football Elite 20 award. 

The Beloit College Buccaneers received the Team Sportsmanship Award honor.
 
The University of Chicago led all teams with 16 All-Conference selections, including 11 First Team and Second Team, followed by Lake Forest College with 12 (9 First Team and 3 Second Team) and Monmouth College with 11 (8 First Team and 3 Second Team) to round out the top three.
 
The league’s head coaches selected All-MWC First and Second Teams, Defensive & Offensive MVPs, Newcomer of the Year, Coach of the Year, and the recipient of the Team Sportsmanship Award.
