GRINNELL, Iowa – The Midwest Conference (MWC) has announced its 2020-21 Academic All-Conference Team. The honorees include 669 student-athletes representing ten member institutions, one affiliate, and six league-sponsored spring sports. As the MWC did not sponsor fall or winter sports due to COVID-19 during the 2020-21 seasons, student-athletes from those teams were not eligible for Academic All-Conference this year.
This year’s list features 334 award winners participating in men’s sports with one multi-sport recipient, and 335 women’s sports participants.
First years, sophomores, juniors, and seniors who lettered in MWC spring sports were eligible for this year’s honor. The criteria to be recognized as an Academic All-Conference selection includes having satisfied a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.33 and the team for which the student-athlete competes completed at a minimum 50% of its scheduled contests.
St. Norbert College led all institutions with 99 student-athlete honorees, just ahead of Grinnell College with 96.
Baseball garnered the most honorees with 201, ahead of women’s outdoor track & field (174). The University of Chicago turned out 36 baseball student-athletes to lead the way with the most institutional honorees in a single sport.
Midwest Conference Academic All-Conference honors are announced annually after the posting of spring term grades.
