LAKE FOREST, Illinois – Lake Forest College is the 2024 Midwest Conference (MWC) Football Champion, marking its third title in four years and sixth in program history.
The Foresters rallied to defeat Monmouth College 35-28 on Saturday afternoon, clinching the regular season title and the league’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Football Championship.
Lake Forest trailed 28-21 with 2:14 remaining in the game. The Foresters returned a Fighting Scots’ punt 60 yards to the Monmouth 15-yard line. Two plays later, Lake Forest scored to tie the game at 28-all.
With 44 seconds left, Monmouth turned the ball over on downs, giving Lake Forest possession at the Monmouth 45. The Foresters completed a 35-yard pass on first down to the 10-yard line, followed by an incomplete pass. On the next play, they rushed for 10 yards to score the winning touchdown with 22 seconds remaining.
With the win, the Foresters remain undefeated in MWC play (8-0) with one game left in the regular season. They will learn their NCAA Tournament first-round destination on Sunday, November 17, during the
NCAA.com Selection Show.
