GRINNELL, Iowa – Illinois College senior guard
Jake Mazrimas was named Midwest Conference (MWC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Year, headlining the 2023-24 postseason awards as voted on by the leagues nine head coaches.
A First Team selection, Mazrimas led the league in rebounding, averaging 9.3 per game, while leading the Blueboys in scoring with 18.1 points per game in MWC play on .485 percent shooting from the field and dishing out 2.8 assists per game.

David Arseneault Jr. was voted Coach of the Year by his peers, and Pioneer freshman forward
Kai Te Huki was tabbed as the Newcomer of the Year and an All-MWC First Team honoree.
In his sixth season leading the Pioneers, Arseneault Jr. led his team to a second-place finish in the regular season standings behind a 12-4 MWC outing and 18 overall wins on the season. Grinnell will compete in this weekend’s MWC Tournament for the second time in three seasons.
Te Huki started all 16 conference games for Grinnell and led the league in scoring, averaging 25.8 points per game and shooting .408 percent from the field. Te Huki also knocked down a league-best 68 three-pointers and 97 free throws, good for .351 and .789 percent, respectively.

Lawrence University received the Men’s Basketball Team Sportsmanship Award, presented to the team that displays the highest ideals of sportsmanship in the league. The Vikings are led by head coach Casey Korn.
