GRINNELL, IOWA – The Midwest Conference women’s tennis crown stays in a familiar place for the seventh consecutive season, as the Grinnell College Pioneers defeated Cornell 4-3 on Sunday afternoon for the regular season title.

The league title is Grinnell’s ninth since 2016-17 and 21st overall. The Pioneers have won 53 consecutive Midwest Conference matches dating back to 2018-19.

Cornell grabbed the early lead, winning the doubles point by claiming courts one and two. However, the Pioneers roared back in singles – straight-set victories on courts three, four, five and six gave Grinnell another MWC championship.

The Pioneers finished the 2025 fall dual season with a 6-0 league record (6-0 overall), while the Rams finished 4-2 (10-3 overall).

Grinnell will be the top seed at the 2026 Midwest Conference Women’s Tennis Team Tournament, hosted by the Powless Tennis Center in Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday, May 2, 2026. Lake Forest College will be the 2 seed, while Cornell (3 seed) and Illinois College (4 seed) have also qualified for the tournament. The teams will compete for the MWC Team Tournament title and the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.
