MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – Thanks to Saturday’s 3-1 win over Knox coupled with Grinnell’s loss to Monmouth, Cornell College has secured its 13th consecutive Midwest Conference volleyball championship.
The Rams got off to a strong start against the Prairie Fire, winning the opening set 25-15. Cornell won an astounding 25 of 28 points in the second set, hitting over 62% with 15 kills in the frame. After Knox rallied to win the third set 25-20, Cornell controlled the fourth set – hitting 50% as a team – to win the final frame 25-11.
Sporting a 15-10 overall record, Rams close out the regular season with matches at Grinnell (November 5) and home against Wartburg (November 8).
Cornell will be the top seed at the 2025 Midwest Conference Volleyball Tournament, hosted on the campus of Cornell on November 14-15. The other three competing teams are yet to be determined. The four qualifying teams will compete for the MWC Team Tournament title and the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.
The Rams are seeking their fifth consecutive MWC Tournament title (and fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance).
