OSHKOSH, Wisconsin — Monmouth College linebacker Ethan James was named a fourth team All-American by D3football.com as the organization released its 27th annual All-America team on Monday afternoon.
James spearheaded one of the most impressive defenses in Division III in 2025. En route to a 9-0 league record, Monmouth won every Midwest Conference contest by at least 29 points, recording three shutouts and allowing single-digit points in eight of nine conference contests.
The Carthage, Illinois native led the Fighting Scots with 98 total tackles – second most in the MWC – and paced the conference with 60 solo tackles and four fumble recoveries. He scored four touchdowns in three different ways: punt return, interception return and fumble recovery.
Last month, James was named the Midwest Conference Defensive Skill MVP while earning first team All-MWC honors at linebacker. He was also a first team All-Region selection by D3football.com.
Monmouth finished the 2025 season with a 9-2 record, winning the Midwest Conference title for the second time in the last four seasons. The Fighting Scots qualified for their first NCAA Playoffs since 2019, falling to Saint John’s 49-15 on November 29 in the second round. Under head coach Chad Braun, Monmouth was ranked as high as #4 in the Region V rankings by the NCAA.
