Mauermann, Vandeloo Named to NFCA Player and Pitcher of the Year Watchlist

OSHKOSH, Wisconsin – Two Midwest Conference softball players were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Player and Pitcher of the Year Watchlist as announced by the NFCA on Thursday afternoon.
 
Illinois College’s Ezzy Mauermann was named to the watch list from Region VIII, while Ripon’s Peyton Vandeloo is on the watch list in Region IX.
 
Mauermann, a sophomore outfielder, ranks 18th in the Midwest Conference in batting average (.370). She has the most home runs in the league (5) and is also tied for third in runs (17), tied for fourth in stolen bases (7), fifth in slugging percentage (.761), seventh in OPS (1.252), tied for eighth in total bases (35), 14th in on-base percentage (.491), tied for 14th in walks (8), tied for 16th in hits (17) and tied for 21st in RBI (10).
 
Vandeloo, a freshman pitcher, has been the top pitcher in the MWC as conference play approaches. She leads the league in ERA (1.62), wins (7), innings pitched (56.1), strikeouts (70) and games started (9). She ranks second in complete games (5) and third in opponent batting average (.234).
 
Tied for the most wins in the conference, Illinois College and Ripon square off in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 4 from Jacksonville, Illinois. Illinois College opens MWC play on Friday (April 3) with a home doubleheader against Lawrence, while Ripon travels to Grinnell on Friday.
