HILBERT, Wisconsin – The Midwest Conference (MWC) announced its Performers of the Week award recipients for games played September 7-13, 2026, on Tuesday.
MWC sports information directors nominate student-athletes for the Performer of the Week honor by sport and vote as a committee to select the winners.
For the fall season, Performers of the Week will be recognized every week on Monday (football, soccer) and Tuesday (cross country, women’s tennis, volleyball) once their seasons have been triggered (three MWC institutions competing) and will conclude the week prior to the sport-specific Conference tournament/championship.
The Performer of the Week award winners are as follows:
Women’s Tennis Performer of the Week
Logan Tom, Grinnell College
Tom went 3-0 over the weekend as Grinnell College shut out both Lawrence University and Lake Forest College by 7-0 scores. She teamed with Marta Gonzalez ’29 to win 6-2 at No. 1 doubles against Lawrence and 6-3 at No. 2 doubles at Lake Forest. She also posted a 6-3, 7-6 victory at No. 2 singles against the Foresters. Grinnell has won 57 matches in a row against MWC competition, dating back to 2018-19.
Women’s Volleyball Offensive Performer of the Week
Bella Van Lannen, Lawrence University
Van Lannen led the Lawrence attack with 53 kills across four matches last week, including 18 kills against Saint Mary’s (MN) and 16 kills while hitting .424 in a win over St. Scholastica. Van Lannen also made an impact from the service line, highlighted by seven aces against St. Scholastica, and helped Lawrence finish the week with three victories.
Women’s Volleyball Defensive Performer of the Week
Emma Nilson, Lawrence University
Nilson was a force at the net for Lawrence throughout the week, highlighted by a dominant 11-block performance against St. Scholastica last Wednesday. Nilson added three blocks against Carthage, four against Lakeland and two against Saint Mary’s (MN) while also providing significant offensive production, including 18 kills at a .368 clip against Carthage and 11 kills while hitting .444 against St. Scholastica.
Men’s Cross Country Performer of the Week
Adam Gray, Luther College
Gray won the 53rd Luther All-American on Saturday, clocking a time of 20:27.2 in the four-mile event featuring 73 runners. The Norse won the six-team meet with 32 points.
Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week
Hannah Roth, Grinnell College
Roth recorded a top-50 program clocking at the Pioneers’ own Les Duke Invitational on Saturday. Roth ran the 6-kilometer course in 23 minutes, 46.3 seconds to finish fourth in a field of 98. The time ranks 45th in program history. As a team, the Pioneers finished second behind nationally-ranked Central.
