Matt Wood - Ripon College
Sophomore - Port Washington, Wis.
Wood helped lead Ripon’s men to a fifth place finish out of 11 teams at Saturday’s Carthage Invitational, breaking a school record in the process. Wood ran an all-time best 50.43 in the 400 meters, breaking his own school mark, which he set last season, by .03 seconds. Wood was also a part of Ripon’s 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams, which finished third and fourth with times of 1:36.01 and 3:35.57, respectively.

Peyton Lumzy - Monmouth College
Senior - Dixon, Ill.
Lumzy got off to a fast start to the indoor season. Lumzy recorded a provisional qualifying mark in the first meet of the year and won both his throwing events at last weekend’s Knox Invitational. Lumzy’s provisional weight throw of 55’9-3/4” won the event by more than three-and-a-half feet and ranks him 12th nationally. Lumzy then tossed the shot put 50’0-1/2” to win, going two-for-two in his events last weekend.

Saidu Sesay - Monmouth College
Senior - Glenview, Ill.
Monmouth’s Saidu Sesay (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) turned in a trio of outstanding performances at Saturday’s five team Midwest Invitational at Monmouth College. Competing against some of the best sprinters in the region, Sesay took first in the 55-meter dash in 6.63. He posted a 23.01 to place second in the 200 . The senior also ran a leg on the winning 4x200 relay which posted a conference-best time of 1:31.18.

Tyler Hannam - Monmouth College
Senior - Woodhull, Ill.
In his first competition of the year, the senior automatically qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships. Hannam’s winning height of 6’10-3/4” won the event by more than three inches. The defending outdoor national champion posted the nation’s top mark in the high jump by nearly two inches.

Kiante Green - Monmouth College
Freshman - Chicago, Ill.
Green helped the Fighting Scots to a team win at last weekend’s 12-team Rose-Hulman Engineer Invitational. Green broke the tape in the 200-meter dash, winning with a personal and conference-best 22.61. He also placed fourth in the 55 dash with a 6.62, just seven-hundredths behind the winner. The freshman helped the Scots pick up a win in the relays, running the leadoff leg of the Scots’ winning 4x200 team. The foursome recorded a conference-leading 1:30.89.

Derek Carrier - Beloit College
Junior - Edgerton, Wis.
In his first-ever Track & Field meet Carrier took third in both the Long Jump (6.52m, 21’5) and Triple Jump (13.11m, 43’4) to lead the Bucs at the University of Chicago Duals last Saturday. He also finished seventh in the 55m (:06.70). In the most current MWC rankings, his Long Jump ranks second, his Triple Jump third and his 55m fourth.

Wood broke the school record in the 400 meters with a time of 49.90 at Saturday’s UW-Stevens Point Invitational, which currently ranks first in the MWC. Wood also ran a leg on the 4x400 relay team that broke the school record with a time of 3:27.14, which currently ranks second in the MWC.

Nick Byom - Monmouth College
Senior - Gilson, Ill.
Nick Byom will be headed to the NCAA Indoor Championships after his performance Saturday at the Keck Invitational hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University. Competing against some of the top teams in the region, the senior took top honors in the high jump with an automatic qualifying height of 6’’10-3/4”. The mark ties him for the top high jump in the nation.

Joe Pliner - Carroll University
Junior - Green Bay, Wis.
Pliner placed third in the 3K at this past weekend’s Monmouth Fighting Scots Invite. His time of 8.48.36 currently ranks him third in the conference and was just .22 seconds of the school record.

Peyton Lumzy - Monmouth College
Senior - Dixon, Ill.
Lumzy improved his provisional mark in one event and won the other at last week’s nine-team Fighting Scot Open. Lumzy won the shot put with a throw of 50’0”, just a half inch off his season best. He then improved his provisional qualifying mark in the weight throw, placing second with a personal- and conference best heave of 59’1-1/2”, less than eight inches behind the winner.

Saidu Sesay - Monmouth College
Senior - Glenview, Ill.
Saidu Sesay was two-for-two at last weekend’s Wartburg Invitational. The senior sprinter won both of his sprint events with times that were meet records as well as personal and Midwest Conference bests. Sesay won the 55-meter dash with a 6.52. He added a win in the 200 with a time of 22.40.

Junior - Mequon, Wis.
Nick Kerkman broke the Lawrence record in the weight throw at the UW-Stevens Point Eastbay Invitational this past Saturday. Kerkman posted a throw of 48 feet, 8 inches, to break Mike Pierquet’s record of 45-7.75.
