Terwelp helped the Fighting Scots off to a 3-1 start by scoring at a clip of 20.5 points per game. The 6-5 junior post actually had his best game against Monmouth’s toughest opponent, scoring 24 points on the road against perennial Division II power Central Missouri State in the Scots’ season opener. Terwelp then netted 18, 17 and 23 points in the Scots’ next three games. Overall, he was 30-of-59 from the field and 3-of-4 from three-point range. Terwelp grabbed 6.5 rebounds per game and added five steals against MacMurray, four assists vs. Hannibal-LaGrange and a pair of blocks at CMSU.
December 4
Eric Bieniasz - Forward - St. Norbert College
Junior - Germantown, Wis./Germantown
Bieniasz helped St. Norbert climb to .500 on the season after the Green Knights won their first two MWC contests of the season, which were also the first and second victories in first-year head coach Gary Grzesk’s tenure in De Pere. In Saturday’s 74-61 win over Knox, Bieniasz recorded eight points and a game-high eight rebounds along with two assists, a block and a steal. In Sunday’s 122-97 win over Grinnell, the 6-4 junior forward helped key a defensive effort that held the Pioneers 28 points below their season average. Bieniasz netted a career-high 27 points in the contest, making 10-of-13 field goals, while going 7-of-9 from the free-throw line. He also had nine rebounds, four assists and a block in 27 minutes, as St. Norbert out-rebounded its counterpart 67-27.
December 11
David Arseneault - Guard - Grinnell College
Sophomore - Grinnell, Iowa/Grinnell
Arseneault recorded double-doubles in a pair of Pioneer wins last week, as Grinnell moved back to .500 on the season. The 6-1 sophomore point guard scored 19 points and handed out 11 assists during a 143-125 home victory over Monmouth, Grinnell’s first MWC win of the season, on Wednesday. Arseneault followed that performance with 31 points and 10 helpers in a 139-127 non-conference win at home against Simpson on Saturday. He shot .633 (19-30) from the field and added five rebounds and three steals in the two games. Arseneault currently ranks second in the conference in scoring (21.3 ppg), first in assists (62), seventh in field goal percentage (.566) and owns a league-high five double-doubles.
December 19
Pete Jennings - Forward - Illinois College
Senior - Fort Madison, Ia./Fort Madison
Jennings turned in a pair of solid performances last week, as the Blueboys picked up victories in both of their non-conference contests. The 6-6 senior forward opened the week by contributing 11 points, seven rebounds, one block and a pair of steals in an 81-72 road victory over Millikin last Tuesday. He followed that outing with team-highs in points (16) and rebounds (9) as the Blueboys handed Westminster its second loss of the season in a 59-56 decision at home on Sunday. Jennings currently ranks fourth in the conference in rebounding (6.9 rpg) and is second on the Illinois College squad in scoring (11.6 ppg) this season.
January 2
Mark Gillingham - Guard - Illinois College
Sophomore - Carrollton, Ill./Carrollton
Gillingham becomes the second straight Blueboy player to earn MWC Performer of the Week honors after a pair of solid performances at the Case Western Reserve Holiday Tournament in Cleveland, Ohio. On Friday, the sophomore guard scored a game-high 18 points, including the game-winning free throws in the final seconds of regulation, as Illinois College topped tourney host Case Western Reserve 60-57 on its home court. In Saturday’s tourney title game, Gillingham added 14 more points, but IC found itself on the wrong end of a 76-71 decision against 9-2 Defiance. He finished the weekend 10-22 shooting with 11 rebounds, five assists and two steals en route to all-tourney team honors.
January 8
Paul Wise - Forward - Ripon College
Junior - Wautoma, Wis./Wautoma
Wise led Ripon to a pair of MWC victories last week, lifting the Red Hawks record to 4-0 in conference play this season. The 6-3 junior forward tallied 14 points on Thursday as Ripon edged Illinois College 72-70. Two days later, he
tallied a game-high 16 points as Ripon ended Lawrence’s 18-game conference winning streak with a 60-56 decision at home. Wise shot 42.8 percent (9-21) from the field and was 12-15 from the free throw line, while also tallying six rebounds, five assists and two steals in the two contests.

Nate Drury - Guard - Carroll College
Senior - Littleton, Colo./Littleton
Drury played a major role in helping the Pioneers snag a share of first place in the MWC with a trio of road victories last week. The 6-2 senior guard averaged 19.6 points per game in leading Carroll to victories over St. Norbert (69-55),
Knox (72-52) and Illinois College (84-71). He also averaged 3.6 rebounds and four assists per game during the three contests. Drury currently ranks in the top ten in league in scoring (18.5 ppg), assists (59) and steals (18).
John Grotberg - Guard - Grinnell College
Sophomore - Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor-Pioneer
Grotberg helped guide the Pioneers to three victories last week, including a pair of MWC wins. The 6-2 sophomore guard poured in 46 points in a 142-130 overtime victory over Lawrence on Friday, which included a three-pointer at the regulation buzzer to force OT. Grotberg, NCAA Division III’s leading scorer at 32.5 points per game, also tallied 40 points in a non-conference win over MSOE (125-106) on Tuesday and 26 points during the Pioneers triumph over Beloit (98-79) on Saturday. On the week, he added six rebounds, five steals and four assists.
January 22
Mike Dowden - Guard - Beloit College
Sophomore - Walworth, Wis./Big Foot
Dowden helped the Buccaneers put together their first winning streak of the season as they swept a pair of league games at home over the weekend. On Friday against Knox, Dowden scored a career-high 23 points and dished out six
assists en route to a 79-63 Beloit victory. One day later during a 74-67 win over Monmouth, the 6-0 sophomore guard upped his career-high in scoring with 34 points that included 7-12 shooting from threepoint range. For the week, he averaged 28.5 points per game and 4.0 assists while committing only four turnovers. Dowden shot 63 percent from the field (17-27), 53.8 percent from three-point (14- 24) and 90 percent from the free throw line (9-10).

Brian Schmitting - Center - Ripon College
Senior - Hilbert, Wis./Hilbert
Schmitting led Ripon to a pair of dramatic conference victories last week, helping the Red Hawks maintain a share of first place in the MWC. The 6-7 senior center poured in 26 points and pulled down 20 rebounds to help Ripon overcome a 19-point second half deficit against Carroll en route to an 80-76 victory at home on Tuesday. Schmitting followed that performance by contributing 16 points and 12 rebounds in Saturday’s 81-77 double-overtime victory at Beloit. Schmitting, the MWC’s leader in rebounding (9.8 rpg) who also ranks among the top 10 in the conference in scoring (9th, 15.6 ppg) and field-goal percentage (3rd, .592), combined to shoot over 60 percent (17-28) from the field in the two contests.F

Hoyt Rees - Forward - Lake Forest College

Rees helped the Foresters make a huge step toward a conference tourney berth, as Lake Forest moved into fourth place in the MWC with a pair of league victories at home over the weekend. The 6-4 freshman forward came off the bench to score 14 points on Friday night as the Foresters defeated Beloit 71-52. In the team’s 72-69 triumph over Lawrence on Saturday, Rees recorded career-highs with 22 points and 10 rebounds. He averaged 18 points and 6.3 boards per game on the weekend while shooting 14-for-22 from the field and 7-for-10 from the foul line.

Ryan Kroeger - Guard - Lawrence University
Sophomore - Glendale, Wis./Nicolet
Kroeger’s hot shooting sparked Lawrence in a pair of must-win games last week, as the Vikings picked up two league victories to remain in the hunt for an MWC Tournament berth. The 6-1 sophomore guard scored a game-high 21 points
in Lawrence’s 72-57 win over Ripon at home on Wednesday and followed that performance with a game-high 18 points in a 74-62 road victory at Beloit on Saturday. For the week, Kroeger hit 13 of 21 shots from the field, including 7-for-13 shooting from three-point range. He also added seven assists, three steals and three rebounds. Kroeger currently ranks among the conference’s best in scoring (7th, 15.8 ppg), field-goal percentage (12th, .495), assists (10th, 56) and threepoint field goal percentage (5th, .426).
February 21
Nathan Drury - Guard - Carroll College
Senior - Littleton, Colo./Littleton
Drury scored 40 points over a two-game span last week, helping Carroll to victories over a pair of opponents in Ripon (89-75) and Lawrence (76-63) who entered the week in the thick of the MWC Tournament race. The 6-2 senior guard scored 23 points, grabbed four rebounds, dished out four assists and recorded three steals in the home victory over the Red Hawks and then added 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists on the road at Lawrence. Drury’s eight assists tied him for Carroll’s all-time assist mark with 378 helpers, while the Pioneers secured the No. 2 seed in this weekend’s MWC Tournament. Drury ranks among the MWC’s best in scoring (2nd, 19.5 ppg), rebounding (16th, 4.6 rpg), assists (3rd, 106 assists), free throw percentage (5th, .841) and steals (8th, 32 steals).
