Neal Layng - Defensive Back - Carroll University
Junior- Rockton, Ill.
Layng helped pace the Pioneers to a 13-0 shutout victory over the visiting Lakland College Muskies. Layng playing DB has a fantastic day as he recorded 4 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 Sack, 1 Fumble recovery, and 1 INT.

Petr Bohacek - Defensive Line - St. Norbert College
Junior- Prague, Czech Republic
Bohacek led St. Norbert to a 30-14 win over Beloit and helped the Green Knights to a negative rushing total. Bohacek finished with a team-high 10 tackles. He also had 3.5 sacks, which was one-half short of matching a St. Norbert record. Bohacek added 4.5 tackles-for-loss.

Mike Dziewit - Linebacker - Carroll University
Senior- Green Bay, Wis.
Dziewit had a big day on defense as he helped the Pioneers return to its winning ways with a 49-20 victory over Beloit College. Dziewit recorded 11 tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and an interception. Dziewit currently leads the team in sacks and total tackles.

Adam Hoste - Linebacker - Monmouth College
Senior - Colona, Ill.
Hoste tied an NCAA record with a 100-yard interception return to spark the Fighting Scots to a 55-14 win over Illinois College. With IC threatening at the Scots’ three-yard line, Hoste grabbed a tipped pass in the endzone and scampered down the sidelines for the third interception return TD of his career, tying the Scots’ all-time mark. The score put Monmouth up 26-7 in the second quarter. Hoste also set the Scots’ career interception return yardage with 249 yards over his career. The pick returned for a TD against the Blueboys was his second in as many years. Hoste also finished with eight tackles on the day.

Kurt Frischman - Defensive End - Illinois College
Sophomore - Arnold, Mo.
Frischman posted just four tackles on Saturday, but all four came behind the line of scrimmage in Illinois College’s 54-44 win over Lawrence. Frischman’s four TFLs, which included three quarterback sacks, totaled a loss of 19 yards. All came in the second half of Illinois College’s come-from-behind win. Frischman has 15 tackles and five sacks this season.

Dylan DeFauw - Defensive Back - Illinois College
Junior - Watseka, Ill.
DeFauw played a key role in stopping a pair of St. Norbert College drives in Illinois College’s 48-34 win over the Green Knights. DeFauw intercepted a pair of Mike Fabrizio passes - returning them for a total of 49 yards - and also forced a fumble in the Blueboys’ win. DeFauw, a junior defensive back, tallied three tackles in the game.

Brian Taylor - Defensive End - Grinnell College
Junior - Andover, Kan.
Taylor recorded 3.5 sacks, just a half-sack shy of the Grinnell College school record, in the Pioneers’ 17-15 victory over Lawrence University on Saturday. He also had a team-high six tackles as Grinnell stretched its winning streak to four games, the longest for the Pioneers since the 1999 season.

Austin Arts - Defensive Back - St. Norbert College
Junior - Kimberly, Wis.
Arts helped St. Norbert hold off Grinnell in a 30-28 road win for the Green Knights. On the game’s third play from scrimmage, Arts intercepted a Grinnell pass for a 43-yard touchdown return - the Green Knights’ first defensive touchdown this season. Then, with Grinnell driving for a potential game-winning score, Arts made the game-saving interception at the St. Norbert 24-yard line with 34 seconds left.

John Preston - Linebacker - Lake Forest College
Freshman - Sanbornton, N.H.
Preston recorded a game-high 18 tackles in his first career start, a 31-27 victory at Knox. Among his stops were 10 solos, 1.5 sacks, and 2.5 tackles for loss.

Tim Denney - Defensive Back - Illinois College
Junior - Jacksonville, Ill.
Denney helped Illinois College win its school-record ninth game of the season with a stellar performance in the Blueboys’ 48-27 win over Beloit on Saturday. Denney intercepted a pair of Beloit passes and nearly had a third when he batted down another pass in the fourth quarter. The IC junior also tallied four tackles in the win. The 9-1 record is Illinois College’s best since joining the Midwest Conference.
