2011 Women's Soccer Offensive Performer of the Week

September 6, 2011
Katie Vanden Avond - Forward - St. Norbert College
Freshman - De Pere, Wis.
Vanden Avond pumped in seven goals in her first two collegiate games to lift the Green Knights to a 2-0 weekend. Vanden Avond scored four goals in her first collegiate game in St. Norbert’s 6-0 win Friday over Lakeland. She then followed with a hat trick in the Green Knights’ 3-2 overtime win over UW-River Falls. She scored the game-tying goal with about 10 minutes left and then fired the game winner about 3 minutes into overtime.

Arielle Dorman - Forward - Knox College
Junior - Bothel, Wash.
Dorman tallied four goals and four assists to help the Prairie Fire defeat MacMurray College 5-0 last Monday at home and Eureka College 6-0 last Wednesday at Eureka. Dorman scored two goals and assisted on another in the Prairie Fire’s home opener against MacMurray. She scored twice and had three assists in the victory against Eureka, the team’s second straight. Dorman has team-highs of five goals and four assists so far this season for Knox.

Brandi Peltier - Forward - Ripon College
Freshman - Neosha, Wis.
Peltier helped give Ripon its first victory of the season in a 5-2 win over Lakeland College on Wednesday. Against the Muskies, Peltier scored four goals, which is tied for the second-most goals in a single game in school history.

Brandi Peltier - Forward - Ripon College
Freshman - Neosha, Wis.
Peltier recorded her second hat trick of the season, scoring three goals in Ripon’s 5-2 conference-opening victory over Beloit College. She also added an assist on the Red Hawk’s final goal of the game. Peltier helped Ripon go 2-0 on the week, as she added two goals and two assists in a 12-0 win at Mount Mary College. Peltier currently leads the MWC in goals with 12.

Rachel Schuchman - Forward - Illinois College
Junior - Waterloo, Ill.
Schuchman netted her first career hat trick while helping IC to a win and a draw over the past week. Schuchman found the net three times in IC’s 11-0 win over Eureka College on Wednesday before the Lady Blues battled to a scoreless draw with Ripon on Saturday. With four goals to date, Schuchman ranks second in goals scored for the Lady Blues, who improved to 4-4-2 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play.

Brandi Peltier - Forward - Ripon College
Freshman - Neosho, Wis.
Peltier led Ripon to a pair of wins during the week. In a 3-2 win over Lawrence, Peltier scored two goals and assisted on the other. She followed that up by scoring the team’s only two goals in a 2-1 overtime victory over Knox. Peltier currently leads the MWC with 19 goals on the year.

Mallory Koula - Forward - Lawrence University
Senior - Kimberly, Wis.
Koula scored four goals, broke a pair of NCAA records and set the Lawrence career scoring record in the Vikings’ 6-1 victory over Beloit on Saturday. Koula scored three consecutive goals in just 42 seconds, breaking the NCAA Division III record of 1:07. Her three goals also broke the team record for the fastest three goals, which had stood at 52 seconds. Her four goals on the afternoon gives her 56 for her career, breaking the Lawrence record of 55, set by former MWC Player of the Year Megan Tiemann from 1998-2001

Vanden Avond had a banner week, scoring eight goals and two assists for 18 points in three games. Vanden Avond scored two goals in a 3-2 double-overtime loss to Carthage, and then added two goals and one assist in a 4-0 win over Illinois College. She then passed two St. Norbert records in an 8-0 win over Knox behind a four-goal, one-assist effort. Vanden Avond’s 26 goals and 58 points this season are new St. Norbert single-season records.
