Andy Popp - Forward - Ripon College
Senior - Brillion, Wis.
Popp started the 2012-13 season off with a bang, scoring a career 31 points on 10-of-13 shooting, including 5-of-6 from 3-point range in the Red Hawks’ 66-53 victory over UW-Oshkosh at the Wisconsin Dells Tournament. Against the Titans, he also recorded four rebounds and five assists. In Ripon’s two games over the weekend, Popp averaged 17.5 points, 5 rebounds, four assists and one steal per game, while shooting 70.6 percent (12-17) from the field, 62.5 percent (5-8) from 3-point range and 85.7 percent (6-7) from the free throw line.

Jack Taylor - Guard - Grinnell College
Sophomore - Black River Falls, Wis.
Taylor shattered the NCAA record for points in a game, regardless of level, when he poured in 138 in a 179-104 victory over Faith Baptist Bible College on Tuesday. Taylor passed the NCAA Division III record of 89 points, set last year by teammate Griffin Lentsch, with 11:14 left in the game. He continued to score, eclipsing the century mark at the 8:55 mark. He then passed the all-time NCAA record of 113 points, set by Clarence “Bevo” Francis of Rio Grande in 1954, with a 3-pointer at the 4:42 mark. He also broke NCAA records for field goals (52), field goals attempted (108), 3-pointers (27) and 3-pointers attempted (71). Additionally, Grinnell set a school record for points scored in a game with 179 and turnovers forced with 49. Taylor followed up that performance with a 21-point output against William Penn University. He currently is averaging 51.5 points a game.

Taylor Koth - Forward - Ripon College

In two games last week, Koth averaged 29 points, 11 rebounds and two assists. In Wednesday’s 68-65 win over Lawrence, Koth became just the 28th player in the 114-year history of Ripon’s men’s basketball program to reach 1,000 career points, scoring 27 in the game, including 22 in the second half. He followed that up with his 22nd career double-double (31 points, 16 rebounds) on Saturday at Grinnell.

James Lazarcik - Forward - Beloit College
Junior - LaCrescent, Minn.
In two games last week, both MWC wins, Lazarcik averaged 17.5 points and 14.5 rebounds per game. He shot 63.2% from the field (12-19) and was 11-14 on free throws. He also had four assists and two steals. Included in his week was a career-high 30 points with 14 rebounds in Saturday’s win over Knox. For the season he averages 18.4 points and 11.6 rebounds per game while shooting 73.1% from the field.

Brandon Berry - Forward - Illinois College
Junior - Olney, Ill.
Berry tallied 21 points, 14 rebounds and six assists in Illinois College’s only game over the past week, a 123-114 win over Grinnell College on Tuesday. His rebound and assists totals were career highs. Berry was 6-for-8 from the field and 8-for-9 from the line in the win. He currently averages 13.9 points and a team-best 6.8 rebounds per game.

Andrew Schwoerer-Forward-St. Norbert College
Sophomore - Valders, Wis.
Schwoerer led St. Norbert to its biggest win of the season, a 69-55 road win over Carroll last Wednesday. Schwoerer netted a game-high 21 points and also added eight rebounds in 34 minutes. Schwoerer finished 10-for-16 from the floor. Schwoerer has scored at least 21 points in each of his last three games to boost his scoring average to 16.8 points per game.

Taylor Koth - Forward - Ripon College
Senior - Cedarburg, Wis.
Koth recorded a double-double in all four games for the Red Hawks during the past two weeks, extending his double-double streak to five consecutive games. In those games, he led Ripon to a 2-2 record, including an appearance in the Elmhurst College Tournament Championship Game. He averaged 28.8 points, 11.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals per game during that span, while shooting 52 percent (34-66) from the field, 40 percent (6-15) from 3-point range and 87 percent (41-47) from the free throw line. Koth led Ripon in scoring in all four of those games, finishing with 37 points on two occasions.

Alec Molter - Center - Carroll University
Junior - Milwaukee, Wis.
Molter played a major role in helping the Carroll University men’s basketball team post back-to back Midwest Conference victories over Beloit College and Knox College. Molter scored 16 point and grabbed 11 rebounds in the win over Beloit while also dishing out 4 assists and recording one steal. In the victory over Knox, he scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked 4 shots.

Koth led Ripon to wins over Lawrence and Grinnell in the Red Hawks’ only two games last week, scoring 33 and 25 points, respectively. Against the Pioneers, Koth also recorded a career-high 19 rebounds, which is tied for sixth in school history for a single game. For the week, Koth averaged 29 points, 12.5 rebounds and three assists per game, while shooting 65 percent (20-31) from the field, 50 percent (2-4) from 3-point range and 94 percent (16-17) from the free throw line. Koth also moved into ninth place on Ripon’s all-time scoring list with 1,332 career points.

Kevin Hurd - Guard - Carroll University
Junior - Portage, Wis.
Hurd nearly averaged a double-double in points and rebounds in leading the Carroll University men’s basketball team to a pair of Midwest Conference road victories, keeping the Pioneers in the hunt for the league’s regular season crown. He scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a 74-68 win over Lawrence on Wednesday night then added a game-high 23 points and eight rebounds in a 72-52 victory over Illinois College on Saturday afternoon. For the season, Hurd is averaging 10.9 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.

Koth led Ripon to a pair of wins last week over Carroll and Monmouth. In the two games, Koth averaged 27.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game, while shooting 50 percent (16-32) from the field, 37.5 percent (3-8) from 3-point range and 83.3 percent (20-24) from the free throw line. In a three-point victory over Carroll, Koth recorded his 29th career double-double and ninth of the season, recording 32 points and 10 rebounds while making all 13 of his free throw attempts. Koth currently leads the MWC in scoring (24.3 ppg), while ranking second in the league in rebounding (9.6 rpg).

Koth helped Ripon extend their current winning streak to five games with wins over Lake Forest and Illinois College last week, recording the 30th and 31st double-doubles of his career to give him 11 this season. In the two games, Koth averaged 26 points, 11 rebounds, one assist and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 51 percent (19-37) from the field and 89 percent (16-18) from the free throw line. The MWC’s leading scorer this season (24.5 ppg), Koth became just the second player in school history to record 700 career rebounds.

Conor Klusendorf - Forward - Lawrence University
Senior - Chicago, Ill.
Klusendorf averaged 21 points per game while shooting better than 65 percent from the floor as Lawrence won both of its games to wrap up the regular season. In a 63-61 win at Lake Forest last Tuesday, Klusendorf scored 21 points and grabbed five rebounds while hitting 8 of 13 shots from the floor. In a 114-106 overtime win over Grinnell on Saturday, Klusendorf again scored 21 points and hit 9 of 13 shots from the floor. He also grabbed eight rebounds. For the week, Klusendorf averaged 21.0 points while shooting 65.4 percent (17-26) from the floor. He also averaged 6.5 rebounds per game and 1.0 blocks per contest.
