2012-13 Women's Basketball Performers of the Week

November 19, 2012
Erin Lind - Forward - Ripon College
Senior - Ripon, Wis.

Lind started the season on a good note, helping Ripon go 1-1 at the Ripon College Tip-Off Tournament. Lind recorded a double-double in both games, averaging 15.5 points and 12 rebounds per game, while adding 2.5 steals and 1 blocked shot per contest. She also made 8-of-9 free throws (89.9 percent), en route to being named to the All-Tournament Team.

Marla Willard - Forward - Monmouth College
Junior - Pittsfield, Ill.

Willard picked up her first double-double of the season in Monmouth’s 98-87 win over North Central last Wednesday. The junior forward pumped in 13 points and pulled down 21 rebounds, tying the Scots’ single game rebounding record. She was especially good on the defensive glass, pulling down 17 defensive rebounds. She also dished out five assists, blocked two shots and had two steals. Her 76 career blocks are just two shy of the school record.

Zipporah Williams - Forward - Monmouth College
Senior - Chicago, Ill.

Williams averaged nearly a double-double last week to help Monmouth get off to a 2-0 start in the Midwest Conference. Williams opened the week with a 10-point, 14-rebound effort in a 72-63 win over Illinois College. She also dished out five assists in the contest. On Saturday, Williams poured in 13 more points in just 24 minutes of playing time as the Scots rolled to a 90-73 win over Beloit to earn Coach Melissa Bittner her 100th career win. For the week Williams averaged 11.5 points and 9.5 rebound while also recording eight assists.

Taylor Dicus - Center - Cornell College
Sophomore - Mount Vernon, Iowa

Dicus recorded a big double-double of 16 points and 15 rebounds as the Rams (7-0, 3-0 MWC) stayed unbeaten with a 68-54 victory Saturday at Lawrence. In two road wins last week, she averaged 16.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and shot 76.5 percent (13-of-17) from the field. Dicus entered the week as the Division III leader in field goal percentage, now at 78.8 percent.

Zipporah Williams-Forward-Monmouth College
Senior - Chicago, Ill.

Williams recorded her fifth double-double of the season and nearly set the Monmouth single game scoring record as the Scots stayed unbeaten through nine games with a 107-85 win over Knox. The senior poured in a career-high 31 points, just six shy of the school record, on 12-of-15 shooting. She also made 7-of-9 free throws and pulled down 17 boards, ten of which came on the offensive end.

Rikki Mulloy - Guard - Cornell College
Sophomore - Phoenix, Ariz.

Mulloy averaged 20.5 points and went 7-of-15 from 3-point land in helping the unbeaten Rams (11-0, 6-0 MWC) grab sole possession of first place in the Midwest Conference standings with wins over Illinois College (75-56) and No. 23 Monmouth (64-60). Mulloy had five 3-pointers and 17 points on the road against previous-unbeaten Monmouth. She scored a season-high 24 against Illinois College.

Senior - Ripon, Wis.

Lind recorded three double-doubles in Ripon’s four games during the past two weeks, while leading the Red Hawks to a 1-1 conference record during that span. In those games, Lind averaged 18.5 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.8 steals per game, while shooting 51 percent (27-53) from the field, 38 percent (5-13) from 3-point range and 83 percent (15-18) from the free throw line.

Tiffany King - Center - Illinois College
Sophomore - Winchester, Ill.

King posted team-high totals of 29 points and 14 rebounds in a 92-87 loss to Knox College, before tallying 10 points and eight rebounds in a 65-39 loss to St. Norbert Collge. King averaged 19.5 points, 11 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal over the two games.

Tasha Giese - Forward - St. Norbert College
Sophomore - Pulaski, Wis.

Giese came up big leading St. Norbert to a 60-59 win over Beloit and a 47-44 win over previously unbeaten and nationally ranked Cornell. Giese secured an offensive rebounds with 5.7 seconds left and made two free throws for the game-winning points against Beloit. Giese then snapped a 42-42 tie against Cornell with a 3-pointer with 1:40 to go. Giese finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds, five steaks, three assists and two blocks in 27 minutes against Beloit. She then had 14 points, eight rebounds, three blocks, three assists and three steals in 35 minutes against Cornell.

Camille Marie - Center - Cornell College
Senior - Marion, Iowa

Marie became the 15th women’s player in Midwest Conference history to score 1,300 career points (1,305). She averaged 21.0 points behind 67.9-percent shooting (19-of-28) from the field in leading the 21st-ranked Rams to a pair of lopsided wins in league play. She had 22 points and six rebounds in a 106-66 home rout of Knox. Marie went for a game-high 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting in the team’s 69-38 victory over Ripon.

February 4, 2013
Alissa Hirsh - Guard - Grinnell College
Freshman - Skokie, Ill.

Hirsh had a pair of big performances for the Pioneers over the week, scoring 17 points on two occasions. She was 8-of-12 from the field in a 94-75 victory over Knox College and nearly had a double-double as she finished with nine assists with no turnovers. She also had two steals. Hirsh followed with another 17-point performance against Beloit College when she was 7-of-8 from the free throw line and had five assists.

Michelle Briggs - Center - Grinnell College
Senior - Salinas, Calif.

Briggs had a pair of big games during the week, nearly getting double-doubles against non-conference foe Ashford University and preseason MWC favorite St. Norbert College. In the Ashford game, Briggs had 12 points as well as game-highs of nine rebounds and four blocked shots as the Pioneers posted a 50-44 victory. In the matchup with St. Norbert, Briggs tallied 14 points and nine rebounds while again blocking four shots.

Marla Willard - Forward - Monmouth College
Junior - Pittsfield, Ill.

Willard was nearly perfect in Monmouth’s 97-62 win over Lake Forest. The junior forward scored a double-double, pumping in a game-high 21 points on 9-of-10 shooting and pulling down 12 rebounds, all but one on the defensive end. She was perfect from the free throw line, hitting all three of her tosses. Willard also collected three blocks to give her 101 for her career.
