2012 Men's Soccer Offensive Perfomers of the Week

September 4, 2012
Joey Brown - Forward - Grinnell College
Sophomore - Berkeley, Calif.

Brown kicked off the 2012 campaign on the right foot Friday as he recorded a hat trick in a 5-1 victory over Iowa Conference foe Coe College. Brown scored in the 10th, 18th and 72nd minutes. He followed that performance up by recording an assist in Sunday’s 2-2 tie with Central College.

Mahir Mameledzija - Forward - Lake Forest College
Junior - Visoko, Bosnia-Herzegovina

Mameledzija had a pair of goals in each of Lake Forest’s two victories last week. He scored in each half of a 6-1 rout of visiting Benedictine University on Wednesday. On Saturday he accounted for the Foresters’ first two scores in a 3-2 triumph at Milwaukee School of Engineering, the Central Region’s sixth-ranked team. Mameledzija now has seven goals in four games this season.

Logan Simpson - Midfielder - Monmouth College
Senior - Groveland, Ill.

Simpson led the Fighting Scots to a come-from-behind victory over St. Norbert, the Scots first win over the Green Knights since 2001. Simposn scored two goals in a 1:45 span as the Fighting Scots rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit.

Jacob Polay - Forward - Knox College
Sophomore - Galesburg, Ill.

Polay scored a pair of goals in the last week that helped Knox snap a 34-match winless streak in Midwest Conference play and win a conference match for the first time in nearly four years. Polay scored the Prairie Fire’s lone goal at 52:37 in a 1-1 tie in double overtime at Lawrence University. Knox had lost 34 consecutive MWC matches prior to the tie with the Vikings. Polay gave Knox a two-goal lead when he scored in the 70th minute of a 2-1 victory at home against Monmouth College on Saturday. He also assisted on the Prairie Fire’s other goal in the match The Midwest Conference win was the first in men’s soccer for Knox since September 27, 2008 – also a 2-1 victory against Monmouth.

Mahir Mameledzija - Forward - Lake Forest College
Junior - Visoko, Bosnia-Herzegovina

Mameledzija recorded his second hat trick of the season in Lake Forest’s 3-1 triumph over visiting Ripon on Saturday. He started the scoring at 29:46 and struck again just 42 seconds later. After the Red Hawks pulled to within a goal in the second half, he added his third of the day and league-high 15th this season with 15 minutes remaining in the contest.

Marc Robinson - Forward - Beloit College
Senior - Kingston, Jamaica

In two games last week where the Beloit went 2-0-0 Robinson had four goals on five shots on goal. He notched a a hat trick at Rockford on Wednesday and added a goal and assisted on the game winning goal in a win over Grinnell on Saturday. For the season leads the team with 9 goals and 23 points.

Mahir Mameledzija - Forward - Lake Forest College
Senior - Visoko, Bosnia-Herzegovina

Mameledzija scored two more game-winning goals to help the Foresters take over first place in the MWC standings last week. He netted the only score in a 1-0 victory over visiting Carroll on Wednesday and then kicked in one goal from 35 yards out and headed in another from much closer in a 3-0 triumph over Knox on Saturday. His final goal of the week was his program record-setting 22nd of the season and he continues to lead the nation in goals and points.

October 22. 2012
Mahir Mameledzija - Forward - Lake Forest College
Senior - Visoko, Bosnia-Herzegovina

Mameledzija helped Lake Forest clinch the 2012 conference title over the weekend. He recorded his third hat trick of the season in a 4-1 victory at Monmouth on Saturday and he assisted on a score in the Foresters’ 2-0 triumph at Illinois College on Sunday. He now has 54 points this season on 25 goals and four assists.

Mahir Mameledzija - Forward - Lake Forest College
Senior - Visoko, Bosnia-Herzegovina

Mameledzija scored a pair of goals in Lake Forest’s 2-1 triumph over visiting UW-Whitwewater on Sunday. He tied the game four minutes into the second half and kicked in his 11th game-winner of the year with 6:44 on the game clock. His second goal was also his 27th of the season, breaking the conference record set by Grinnell’s Vice Anku in 1963.
