Melika Celebic - Lake Forest College
Senior - Visoko, Bosnia-Herzegovina
Celebic returned from a year off to go 3-1 at #1 doubles and win all four of her matches at the top spot in the singles lineup to start the season. She helped lead the Foresters to victories in all four contests, including matches at St. Norbert (6-3), Lawrence (5-4), and Ripon (8-1).

Gayatri Malhotra - Lawrence University
Junior - Litchfield Park, Ariz.
Malhotra was unbeaten on the week and remained unbeaten on the season for Lawrence. Malhotra posted a 3-0 record at No. 3 doubles and went 2-0 at No. 3 singles. In a 5-4 victory over Carthage, Malhotra beat Erin Hendrickson 6-4, 6-2, and Malhotra defeated Aimee Neilan 6-3, 6-2, in an 8-1 victory over Knox. Malhotra teamed with Polly Dalton in doubles for an 8-6 win against Carthage, an 8-3 win over Knox and an 8-2 victory over Marian. The latter was part of Lawrence’s 9-0 victory over the Sabres.

Catherine Fitch - Grinnell College
Senior - Edmonds, Wash.
Fitch was a perfect 9-of-9 in her matches over the weekend to lead the Pioneers. She won singles matches against Monmouth College, Knox College, Carroll University and Lake Forest College while competing anywhere between the No. 3 through 5 spots. She posted doubles wins against the same schools as well as against Illinois College, competing at either the No. 1 or No. 2 levels with Laura Krull or Hanna Feldman. Fitch is now 6-1 in singles play and 7-4 overall in doubles.

Laura Krull - Grinnell College
Senior - New Braunfels, Texas
Krull recorded perhaps the biggest accomplishment in Pioneer women’s tennis history by winning the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional Championships singles title on Sunday. On Saturday, the ninth-seeded Krull earned a spot in the semifinals – the furthest a Pioneer had ever advanced in the tourney – with a run that included a victory over the fourth-seeded player. On Sunday, Krull defeated fifth-seeded Tai Lucero of Coe College 6-3, 6-1 in a semifinal match and then toppled Jackie Vitale of Wisconsin-Whitewater 6-3, 6-4 for the title. Krull is now 8-1 on the season.

Abigail Pellett - Carroll University
Sophomore - Ellensburg, Wash.
Pellett led the Carroll University women’s tennis team to three victories in a 24-hour period. The Pioneers knocked off Cornell College 6-3 on Friday afternoon then bested Carthage College 5-4 on Saturday morning. The weekend ended with Carroll earning a decisive 9-0 victory over Monmouth College. Pellett finished the weekend winning five of the six matches she participated in. Pellett was 3-0 at the No. 1 singles flight and combined with Alyssa Larson to go 2-1 at No. 1 doubles. Pellett is now 10-0 in singles play and has compiled a record of 7-4 in doubles matches.

Tamar Norville - Illinois College
Freshman - Batavia, Ill.
Norville took a 6-4, 6-1 win over Millikin in No. 1 singles play last Thursday in Jacksonville as the Lady Blues scored a 5-4 team win. Norville was also victorious in the No. 1 doubles match, by an 8-2 score. The win was Illinois College’s fourth of the season, the team’s most in over a decade.
