Kyle Mengarelli got a good jump to the start of the indoor season, posting a personal-best to win the triple jump at last Saturday’s Sol Butler Classic at Dubuque. His leap of 46’6” easily won the event. The mark was more than a foot farther than his previous best. The jump also ranks ninth nationally.

Junior - Macomb, Ill.
Teslicka took second place in the pole vault Saturday at the Snow Bird Invitational at Illinois College. The junior pole vaulter cleared a height of 13 feet, 11 1/4 inches to claim second place. The Illinois College men’s indoor team took fifth place out of 11 teams.

Randy Hill - St. Norbert College
Sophomore - De Pere, Wis.
Hill set a St. Norbert College indoor record in the triple jump and matched the school standard in the high jump to lead the Green Knights to a third-place finish at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational. Hill uncorked a triple jump of 14.06 meters, which topped the previous St. Norbert-high of 14.01 meters set by Paul Leeman in 2007. Hill also leaped 1.98 meters in the high jump, matching a school record held by four others. Hill added a 4th place finish in the long jump at 6.56 meters.

Caleb Cox - Illinois College
Junior - Chatham, Ill.
Cox won the heptathlon at the Illinois Wesleyan University Keck Invitational over the weekend in Bloomington. Cox scored 4,759 points to win the seven-event competition. He turned in the top marks in the long jump (21-6.75) and shot put (40-0.75). He was also strong in the 60-meter hurdles (9.08), 1,000-meter run (3:04.06), pole vault (12-10.75), high jump (6-2.75) and 60-meter dash (7.35).

Mengarelli finished 1-2 in sand jumps at Saturday’s Fighting Scot Invitational. The senior won the triple jump with a mark of 45’11-1/4” and turned in the conference’s second-best effort in the long jump at 21’11” to take the runner up spot at the Invite.

DeAndre Smith - Monmouth College
Senior - Carbondale, Ill.
Smith threw a pair of season-bests at last weekend’s seven-team Wartburg Invitational. The senior improved his conference-best mark in the shot put, heaving the shot 51’2-3/4” to place second. He also improved his third place conference standing in the weight throw with a mark of 51’9” to place sixth at the meet.
