2013 Men's Soccer Offensive Performers of the Week


September 3, 2013
Drew Comstock - Forward - Illinois College
Senior - Jacksonville, Ill.

Comstock scored the game-winning goal in a dramatic comeback victory for the Blueboys against Buena Vista University on Sunday in Storm Lake, Iowa. After the Blueboys surrendered a go-ahead goal to Buena Vista with less than five minutes to play, Andrew Matheney leveled the score in the 88th minute and Comstock scored the game-winner 41 seconds later at the 88:23 mark. Comstock’s goal helped the Blueboys to a 3-2 win and a 2-0 start to the season after a win over Martin Luther College on Saturday.

Victor Ghazal - Forward - Grinnell College
Sophomore - The Woodlands, Tex.

Ghazal was a scoring machine for the Pioneers in the past week, tallying the team’s lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Central College and then erupting for two more goals in the Pioneers’ first win of the season, a 3-2 decision over Buena Vista University Sunday. Ghazal is the team’s leading scorer on the season with four goals in as many contests.

Nathaniel Logie - Forward - Knox College
Sophomore - Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago

Logie was an offensive force for the Prairie Fire in three wins last week. Logie combined to score five goals and dish out two assists in three Knox wins last week: a 4-3 OT victory at Concordia Chicago on September 11, a 6-0 triumph at home over Iowa Wesleyan on September 14, and a 4-1 win against Robert Morris Springfield at home on September 15. Logie scored two goals in the matches against Concordia and Iowa Wesleyan and one against RMU to increase his season total to a team-high nine. He entered play on September 15 leading the Midwest Conference in five offensive categories and has helped the Prairie Fire win six straight contests, already matching last season’s team win total.

Mahir Mameledzija - Forward - Lake Forest College
Senior - Visoko, Bosnia-Herzegovina

Mameledzija scored four of his team’s six goals over the weekend and became Lake Forest College’s all-time leader with 62 career scores. He had the only tally in the Foresters’ 1-0 triumph at Grinnell College on Saturday before recording his fourth career hat trick in a 5-0 victory at Cornell College on Sunday. He leads the team with nine goals on the year.

Mahir Mameledzija - Forward - Lake Forest College
Senior - Visoko, Bosnia-Herzegovina

Mameledzija scored the first two goals in Lake Forest’s 4-0 triumph over visiting St. Norbert College on Saturday. He gave the home team the lead at the 18:38 mark and doubled the advantage on an unassisted score less than five minutes into the second half. Mameledzija first goal of the day made him the program’s career leader in points and his second raised that total to 145.

Dylan Hartman - Forward - Lake Forest College
Sophomore - Phoenix, Ariz.

Hartman scored to tie the score twice in Lake Forest’s 3-2 triumph at Ripon on Saturday. Ripon took the lead just 41 seconds into the game but Hartman evened the score at the 2:21 mark. After the home team regained the advantage at 7:06, Hartman netted his second goal of the day and third this year at 19:06. The Foresters scored again in the 32nd minute and held on for the victory.

Dylan Hartman - Forward - Lake Forest College
Sophomore - Phoenix, Ariz.

Hartman helped lead Lake Forest to a pair of 1-0 victories last week. The Foresters became the only MWC team without a blemish on its league record when he scored with 19 minutes to play at Carroll on Wednesday. He then assisted on a goal with just 37 seconds remaining at UW-Whitewater on Saturday. Hartman now has four goals and an assist in five games this season.

Max Daniels - Forward - Monmouth College
Sophomore - Germantown Hills, Ill.

Daniels made sure the Scots picked up a Midwest Conference win last week, scoring two goals and assisting on another in a 4-0 blanking of Beloit. Daniels scored the only goal the Scots would need in just the third minute of play. He scored his second goal in the 29th minute, sandwiching an assist in between his two scores. Daniels was efficient, putting all three of his shots on goal and scoring twice. The goals were his second and third of the season.

Mahir Mameledzija - Forward - Lake Forest College
Senior - Visoko, Bosnia-Herzegovina

Mameledzija scored three times on the weekend as Lake Forest defeated Monmouth 3-0 on Saturday and Illinois College 2-0 on Sunday to remain atop the league standings. He netted the first goal in each contest, giving him a league-high six game-winning goals on the season. He is now tied for first in the conference with 16 goals on the year.

Mameledzija scored a pair of goals just 76 seconds apart in the Foresters’ regular season finale, a 3-0 victory over Lawrence at home on Saturday. The scores gave him a league-high 18 goals on the season and also moved him into the MWC lead in points with 38.
