GRINNELL, Iowa – The 2021 Midwest Conference (MWC) Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams and individual award winners were announced Thursday.
Cornell College senior
Justin Howe was named the 2021 MWC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Year, while freshman teammate
George Archer received the 2021 MWC Newcomer of the Year award. Senior Zach Miller joins Howe and Archer on the First Team.
Grinnell College senior
Jasper Yang was named First Team All-Conference and the 2021 MWC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year. Teammates
Ray Goedeker (senior),
Noah Guyton (junior), and
Zak Serby (freshman) received Second Team recognition for the Pioneers.
Lawrence University was recognized with the Team Sportsmanship Award, in addition to head coach Will Greer and his staff receiving Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
Lawrence picked up two First Team selections in freshman
Konstantinos Fardellas and junior
Sean McLaughlin. Vikings' freshman
Rodrigo Molina also earned Second Team honors.
During the Conference Tournament, sophomore
Brett Schneider was honored with the league's Elite 20 Award in recognition of his academic and athletic achievements for the Vikings.
Tournament and regular season champion Knox College led all teams with five All-Conference selections. The Prairie Fire had four First Team selections led by seniors
Raleigh Berry,
Lucas Piqueras, and
Martin Garcia, and sophomore
Nicolas Lantzendorffer. Sophomore
Alex White represented Knox on Second Team.
Illinois College sophomore
Tyler Schiltz received First Team honors, while freshman teammate
Thomas Menke picked up a spot on the Second Team.
Lake Forest College saw Second Team representation in senior
Connor Keast and sophomores
Elliot Hull and
Szymon Mocarski.
Ripon College sophomore
Eli Dietzel and Monmouth College senior
Nicholas Esparon both picked up Second Team honors.
The league's head coaches selected All-MWC First and Second Teams, Defensive & Offensive Players of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Coaching Staff of the Year, and a recipient for the Team Sportsmanship Award. The full list of honorees can be found below:
