GRINNELL, IOWA — The 2021 Midwest Conference (MWC) Baseball Championship field is set, as the Beloit College Buccaneers will host the Illinois College Blueboys for a best-of-three series on Saturday, May 22.

Beloit finished as the top-seed in the North Division with a 19-3 league record (24-4 overall) to claim its first division title since the 2011 season. The Buccaneers will seek to capture their third league crown and first since 2016.

Illinois College closed the regular season on Monday with a 10-8 win over Monmouth College, but would have to wait another twenty-four hours to know their championship fate. The Blueboys secured a share of the South Division title and advanced to the championship after the Scots split a doubleheader series with Knox College on Tuesday afternoon.

The Blueboys enter Saturday’s title series with a 16-8 league record (19-17 overall) and will seek to pick up their first championship since 1995. Illinois College last competed for the title in the 2010 Conference tournament.

Beloit and Illinois College last met on the baseball diamond during the 2019 season, where they split wins in a cross-divisional doubleheader. The Blueboys won the first game 3-1 but would fall 6-13 in the second.

Saturday’s action will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by game two at approximately 1:00 p.m. If needed, game three is set for a 4:00 p.m. start. No spectators will be allowed at the venue.
