MWC Baseball Tournament Begins Tomorrow

GRINNELL, Iowa – Beloit College is set to host the 2023 Midwest Conference (MWC) Baseball Tournament beginning Friday, May 12, through Saturday, May 13.
 
Action starts with two games on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. Host and No. 1 seed, Beloit College will take on No. 4 Grinnell College at The Ballpark at Strong Stadium, while No. 2 Ripon College will square off against No. 3 University of Chicago at Pohlman Field. Games three and four will start at 2:00 p.m.
 
On Saturday, play will continue at 10:00 a.m. with all games at The Ballpark at Strong Stadium.
 
Beloit College went 20-4 in MWC play (28-11 overall) to claim the top seed and its first championship crown since 2016, third overall. The Buccaneers set a new league record for MWC wins in a season with 20.
 
Ripon College and the University of Chicago both completed the regular season with a 15-9 record in league play. The Red Hawks (22-16 overall) won the season series against the Maroons 2-1 to secure the second seed in the tournament. Ripon was last season’s tournament runner-up.
 
The University of Chicago is currently 24-16 overall and will be making its second consecutive MWC Tournament appearance.
 
Grinnell College closed the regular season on a three-game win streak against conference opponents to finish fourth in the standings and secure its spot in the tournament. The Pioneers (14-10 MWC, 18-19 overall) enter the postseason for the first time since 2018.

Game 7 4:00 p.m. 2nd Championship Game (if necessary)
