MWC Recognizes 2022-23 Academic All-Conference Honorees

GRINNELL, Iowa — A total of 1,544 student-athletes representing nine Midwest Conference (MWC) member institutions and two affiliates were named Academic All-Conference honorees for the 2022-23 academic year, announced Friday.
 
Across the league's eighteen sponsored sports, the list includes 843 men's sports recipients, 701 women's sports participants, and 291 multi-sport athletes.
 
To be recognized as Academic All-Conference, a student-athlete must have satisfied a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.33 for the awarded academic year, letter in any of the league’s fall, winter, or spring sports as a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior, and compete on a team that completed a minimum 50% of its scheduled contests.
 
With 260 student-athletes receiving Academic All-Conference accolades, Grinnell College led all schools, followed by Illinois College with 171 and Ripon College with 167, highlighting the top three. League affiliate, the University of Chicago picked up the most honorees in a single sport as 54 football student-athletes earned recognition.
 
Football led all sports with 247 recipients, carrying the load for the league-best 773 honorees representing fall sports. Winter sports garnered 588 selections to edge out spring sports with 585. Women’s indoor track & field was the front-runner for the slate of winter sports with 133 awardees, while baseball boasted 195 to lead all spring sports.
 
MWC Academic All-Conference honorees are announced annually after the conclusion of the posting of spring term grades.
